After hearing a classical version of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjeuz," Miles Davis and British arranger Gil Evans decided to use it as the centerpiece to make their new album around. With its emphasis on flamenco, rich orchestration and relaxed tempos Sketches of Spain is undoubtedly one of the smoothest and most accessible albums of Davis' brilliant career.
